ART SALT joined PITA in 1953 and achieved 200,000 targets in 2007.

Dear fellow Trapshooters,

We are so very sad to let you know that Art Salt, one of the founders of and major contributors to the North Okanagan Trap and Skeet Club has passed away on August 13, 2018 at 12:29 AM.

Art has been a life member of the NOTSC since 1967 along with his recently deceased wife Joan Salt, and much of his family:  Bruce, Terry, Jared, Dustin and Cody Davies and Gord Fowler/Lisa Salt.

Being as humble as he was, Art never spoke of his service, contributions or accomplishments in trap and shooting, however there were many.  He purchased at least two traps and two sets of voice calls for the club out of his own pocket, tirelessly carried around the only cash box for the club for every practice day (when he retired it has taken 6 people to replace him!), was the second President of the Club for 7 years, and was inducted into the PITA Hall of Fame for his shooting accomplishments and service in 2007.  His “Trap Ambassador” status and designated parking spot was appropriate and well deserved.

There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 11 AM at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon:

NOTICE:   Good evening Shooters,
You will all have heard the sad news of the death of Art Salt.  I am sure you will join Trish and I in our condolences to the Salt/Davies/Fowler family.  RIP Art.

The family has announced the “Celebration of Art’s Life” ceremony at 1100 on Sunday, 26th August which, you will realise, is the Sunday of the KWA Shoot in Rock Creek.  I understand the family tried to avoid such a clash but found that was the only day which enabled the family to gather from far and wide. It is entirely appropriate that that should be the priority.

We, at the KWA have made the determination that we are obligated to hold the shoot as planned to cater to the shooters, who have planned to attend. Accordingly, Trish, Dave, Dale, Gerald, Pat, Peggy, Joe et al will be in attendance at various times on Wed/Thurs/Fri and ready to shoot.

In the past, we have offered the ability to shoot the DBLS event on the Friday for those squads already assembled. It helps to relieve the pressure of holding 3 events on Saturday.

For this shoot, we shall be prepared to extend that ability for fully assembled squads to complete ALL FIVE events by Saturday night, allowing shooters to shoot the full programme and still attend the ceremony for Art in Vernon on the Sunday morning. It is up to the shooters if they can arrive in time to carry out the programme by Sat. PM.

Whatever, happens, we of the KWA will be ready to shoot from 0900 on Friday, 24th until Sunday 26th evening, If the squads arrive to shoot early, we shall start early!

If not, we will shoot the programme as advertised.

Please pass on to your club’s shooters.

Brgds to all,
Geoff Fern.
