Dylan Needs a New Hat

By Dale Nelson

The DRRC Youth Shotgun Team had a very good day at the February 6 Tournament at Portland Gun Club.

Dylan Nelson took a First Place in Juniors Singles with a 97/100. Cameron Phillips received a First place in sub-Juniors Singles and McKenna Johnson took a First Place in Ladies Sub-Juniors Singles.  I Handicap Singles, Cameron Phillips took a 2nd place overall and a First in Sub-Juniors with a 93/100. Dylan was First Place in Juniors.  McKenna Johnson was first in Ladies sub-juniors with an 87/100.  The numbers listed indicate personal bests for these young shooters.

The Team had some real excitement when Dylan shot his first straight 50!

The Team participated in a time honored tradition of shooting his lucky hat.  Dylan now needs to develop a new lucky hat before he campaigns for the next trapshooting milestone.

The family of Marian Pinnell would like to invite all that knew and loved her to a celebration of her life.

As many of you know the Medford Gun Club Blanket Shoot was one of Marian’s favorite shoots of the year, so we thought it only fitting to honor her after the shoot on Saturday March 19, 2016.  We will be serving some finger foods, but more importantly we will also have desserts.  If you knew Marian you knew how much she liked her sweets and how much she enjoyed entertaining her friends and family.

We ask that people start to show up at 7:00 pm, then at 7:30 pm the family will share their memories and then open it up to all of you to share your memories.

Please and come join us in telling stories or shooting tales, sharing photos and your memories of the good times we all had with Marian.

When:  March 19, 2016 at 7 pm

Location:  The Inn at the Commons, 200 N. Riverside, Medford OR 97501 Phone: 541-774-4702

The Walla Walla Gun Club is hosting an ATA shoot on April 3, 2016 with PITA cross registration is offered.  Click here to view the program. Notice that this shoot is also a SCTP youth shoot. At the youth shoot, there is a special youth rate of $75 for all 300 targets, which includes all ATA, PITA, WSTP and WA-PITA fees, so all youths shooting this event will come away with a PITA card and an ATA card if they don’t already have one. This should be a benefit to youth teams who want to shoot the PITA Grand Pacific as well as the Washington State ATA Championships.

They will be giving away MidwayUSA Foundation money and a new O/U shotgun courtesy of SCTP, so are really, really excited about this opportunity for adults as well as our youth team members in the Pacific Northwest. WWGC hopes parents will shoot the shoot right along with their kids, even squadding together if they wish. It should be a fun family affair, and they hope to attract a lot of teams.  If you have questions please contact Bob.
