Portland Gun Club:

The Douglas Ridge Rifle Club Youth shotgun team competed at the 2019 PITA Morlan Memorial Tournament at the Portland Gun Club on Saturday May 25. The DRRC team had 17 young athletes participating, seven of which were competing in their very first PITA tournament.  Highlights for the team are: Wyatt Carey took first in D Class Singles; Tanner Marquardt won short yardage handicap and Henry Phipps won D class doubles.

Another high point of the day was sub-Junior Cohen Schleich breaking his first PITA 25/25 at his very first PITA tournament!  The team got together with others at the tournament and shot Cohen’s hat in celebration of his feat.  Nice shooting Cohen!  Submitted by Dale Nelson

CA State Shoot – Coon Creek:

I had the pleasure of shooting with a phenomenal young man, Tate Crook. Tate is fairly new to the trap world. He shoots on a Junior team, in Jamestown.  Tate decided to try a registered event this weekend. His first registered shoot and his first PITA event. Tate, age 10, shot his first ever 100 straight on Saturday in Singles!! That’s right, 10 years old! From what we understand, he is the youngest shooter to achieve this remarkable feat. Tate was cheered on by his parents, Russ and Kay, younger sister Cora, Grandparents and a friend/shooter from his Jr Club.  Submitted by Lannette Dunn
Michael Sargent and Colten Imhoff both ran 200/200 in the Championship Singles – a shoot off gave Michael the Champion title 25 to 23.  Michael Sargent (200/200) and Molly DiMaggio (198/200) are the CA Champion of Champions contestants for 2019.
