There have been many rumors floating around about the 2017 Grand Pacific and its location. The current Executive Committee is committed to complete transparency with PITA members and the entire trapshooting community. To that end, the following explains what has occurred and the Executive Committee’s plans moving forward.

On October 9th, the PITA was sent a Contract for Renegotiation from the Evergreen Sportsmen’s Club (ESC). That contract was sent to President Rankhorn.  The entire Executive Committee was only made aware of the existence of this contract, and ESC’s desire to renegotiate, after the resignations of the above members. By that time, ESC had sent a Contract Cancellation, forcing the remaining EC members to assemble a negotiating committee in an attempt to establish a new contract.

The alternative contract proposed by ESC contained extensive changes, including (but not limited to) a considerable increase in the cost of targets. This increase would have resulted in a sizable inflation of cost to shooters. Recognizing this, the PITA negotiating committee responded with a counteroffer that contained an increase in target cost, but not to the extent of ESC’s proposed contract. In response, ESC formally withdrew their proposed, amended contract.

The EC is currently exploring all options with regards to the Grand Pacific. The EC is open to questions related to the Grand, and all of the happenings of the past several weeks. However, please be aware that even our knowledge of many of these events is hazy.

Current PITA President Billy Myers is available to answer questions at bydnsilly@hotmail.com. Contact information for additional Executive Board members can be found here. For those with pre-paid 2017 Grand Pacific RV reservations, they will either be honored at the new location once it is selected or refunded in full. For RV questions, please contact Sue Brewer at sue@shootpita.com.

Despite the challenges of the past month, the remaining EC members are committed to the PITA and have every intention of putting on a high quality shoot for its members. We will continue to move forward in support of the PITA, and appreciate the support that has already been offered by many members and state directors.
