December PITA Shoot at Old Skagit Gun Club

On a cold and gray day shooters gathered at Old Skagit for the December PITA Shoot and Chili Feed.  Twenty-four went out for two challenging doubles events and Joe Scheef once again topped the field with a combined total of 188 ‘dead’ for the total 200.  Also sharing in the wins were Don Meece with 162 for A Class, Herk Sorsdal and Chuck Manning both with 176 for B and C Class respectively, and Dave Reimers with 161 for D Class.  After a much needed warm up and lunch, thirty-one shooters went out into the afternoon chill for the handicap competition.  Bill Heaphy left no question about taking the Championship, his 89 leading by three birds after the third event was completed.  Both with 86’s Rudy Martinak and a shooter who wishes to not be mentioned took short and long yardage respectively.

The December shoot at Old Skagit is particularly subject to the whims of mother nature—one year the weather may be mild and sunny and the next year (as was the case this time) bone-chilling cold and gray.  Whatever the conditions, however, it is always a chance to get together with friends and fellow shooters during the ‘off-season’.  Come and join us next year!
